Conference Early Bird Rate - $250 Available until – September 28th 2007 Women of Resource Communities ConferenceOctober 17th to October 19, 2007 South Thompson Inn & Conference Centre Kamloops, BC www.stigr.com Over 175 women from diverse regions and economic sectors throughout BC attended the 2005 and 2006 Conferences. The third annual Women of Resource Communities Conference is an opportunity for women working closest to BC’s natural resources to hear from dynamic experts in the fields of agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, forestry, mining, oil and gas and tourism, and to participate in roundtable discussion around issues of sustainability, education, public awareness and building stronger ties between stakeholders. Women of Resource Communities Conference is an opportunity: · To hear from women in leadership roles in business and government. · To learn more about the diversity of BC’s resource sector. · To exchange ideas on how to best promote the positive contribution that the resource sector makes to the entire province. The environment has become Canada’s top priority. For many of the women who make their living in BC’s resource sector, the environment has always been a priority. As we strive to find more balance in our life - at work, in our communities and with our natural resources, there is a growing acknowledgement that we are all interconnected and what we do, does make a difference. The 2007 Conference explores: · In today’s world of environmental awareness, what does it take to be a good corporate citizen, and how do we help make that happen? · How do we attract and mentor more young women towards careers in the resource sector? · How to build social networks and an online community that supports women in the resource sector?
